Additional notes:
We have an Internal Ticket for this issue where we have been working in collaboration with our Adobe Business Partner and this is the Fix provided from Adobe:
Please have your Internal IT logged in as Windows Admin follow the instructions below. Make sure to have the user logged out of Encompass first.
A. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers - String value for Acrobat/Reader exe to $ IgnoreFreeLibrary<Acrobat.DLL> (Need to delete this key $ IgnoreFreeLibrary)
B. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers - String value for Acrobat/Reader exe to $ IgnoreFreeLibrary<Acrobat.DLL> (Need to delete this key $ IgnoreFreeLibrary)
(It's best to search for "Layers" key in the registry editor. If you detect " $ IgnoreFreeLibrary " then delete it).
C. ADD this key in Local Machine:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\<Track>\FeatureLockDown\
bForceEPMHandlingInBrowserPlugin (1= DWORD)
(Need to Add this key bForceEPMHandlingInBrowserPlugin)
To summarize:
- Need to delete the ” $ IgnoreFreeLibrary “ key.
- If it never existed/not present make sure to add:
“ bForceEPMHandlingInBrowserPlugin (1= DWORD) “
- Bottom line is if this “ $ IgnoreFreeLibrary “ key exists in any version of Adobe, it will crash Encompass.
